Ep 14: Misty Mountain Oysters

If you ever find yourself in a goblin lair, it’s always best to move with caution.

You know, because of the goblins and all that.

Let’s see what our geeky fellowship can do in the middle of trouble. Before them lies the outskirts of a goblin lair and two orcs keeping watch. They have a quiet burglar, a silent wanderer, and…Rhori.

Deep below the Misty Mountains, they have ventured to find the source of the goblins troubling the High Pass. And finding some sweet loot wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

What is a bad idea is stumbling into the middle of an orc den with no plan.

Let’s hope they can make a plan quickly!

The countdown to the full conversion to the 2nd edition continues! As soon as we get to a Fellowship Phase, we are making the change.

What’s great is we now have our hands officially on the People of Wilderland Kickstarter reward that will make Katvera and Euric’s 2nd edition conversion that much easier.

It’s also exciting looking at how streamlined some of the mechanics will become.

First, Journeys will be more concise and flow smoother but still have the great events that could possibly take place based on their rolls. It should easily fit in with the 1st edition adventures we are playing through.

Second, distinctive traits and features will not be so willy-nilly. I complain in this episode specifically about them, and those get an easy-to-implement mechanic in the 2nd edition of The One Ring RPG.

And not last, but last in this particular list, is combat. We have the running joke with Sean on what to roll and beat in every combat we enter, but that gets a little easier too. Instead of different parries to beat for every stance, the players will get bonus d6 dice to roll and have to beat what’s on their character sheet. Pretty simple.

All of that and much more is coming, and we can’t wait!
