A start to such a great Lord of the Rings adventure that it needed 2 parts!

The pilot episode of The Party Business Podcast is filled with dark dreams, evil tidings, and a dwarf that tries to…steal someone’s boots. Humble beginnings.

The gang is playing through The One Ring RPG and specifically through the Tales from the Wilderland adventure. There’s some Darkening of Mirkwood mixed in there too. For now, The Party Business Podcast is playing through 1st edition, although we officially do have our hands on 2nd edition and might start adding that in as we go.

If you want to hop back into Middle Earth and join a bunch of geeks as they carve a little corner of Tolkien’s world out for themselves, join us for the adventure. You can even listen to both parts of the episode below:

The story starts 10 years after the Battle of the Five armies. For you Lord of the Rings nerds out there, you know that means that Bilbo Baggins is safely back in the Shire and Smaug has been dead for just as long. Spoilers, I guess, for a nearly 100 year old book.

The fledgling fellowship that forms in the Party Business Podcast story is one that has grown out of the new hustle and bustle that has made itself grow from the ashes of that battle. Dale, the city of Men, and Erebor, the Lonely Mountain ruled by the Dwarves, has made peace with each other and thrive around the Long Lake.

But not everything is all happily ever after. Remember, this is still a few decades before Frodo leaves the Shire with the Ring, hoping that he won’t have to be the one to take it all the way to Mordor himself.

New terrors are starting to flow back into Mirkwood Forest and the surrounding area. Sauron has revealed himself in Mordor once again, even if no one is willing to utter his name. Gondor, to the south of our story’s setting, fends off the renewed attacks from Mordor…but for how long?

Here’s a little look at who our cast of characters are:

Katvera – The Beorning woman who looks to hunt down the Shadow wherever it may be lurking. She’s a Warden of her people, and has found herself leading a group of…let’s say interesting…travel companions.

Ted Took – The Hobbit of the Shire is out to make a story all his own. Inspired by Bilbo Baggins himself, Ted has come to the Wilderland and beyond seeking treasure, fame, and a tale to rival Bilbo’s.

Thakhid – A spoiled Laketown Barding, Thakhid seeks answers to why his parents have fallen ill and how to bring them out of the fog they seem to be in. Only 16, he has never really been on his own. And his father’s coin is running out.

Rhori – A Dwarf of the Lonely Mountain that has lost his family’s place amongst the great families. He looks to find a treasure so great that his family will have a place of honor once more. If only he could stop putting his foot in his mouth first.

Euric – Cool, collected, and willing to share his pipe with his companions, Euric is a Woodsmen that has wandered Mirkwood for many years. He travels with his loyal hound Finn while seeking answers to the growing darkness in the forest.

The group will meet new faces, and old friends from the Lord of the Rings stories we all love. Join us each week as we craft our own adventure in Middle Earth.

Listen wherever you get your podcasts.
