Ep 8: Bee Line to the Misty Mountains

Adventurers attempt to cross a river in Middle Earth from The One Ring RPG rulebook

The Wilderlands might be under the protection of Beorn and his folk, but that doesn't mean that danger is so far off that a traveler need not worry about it.

Our heroes...if they can yet be called that...head out from the Easterly Inn to find a late caravan. They must journey to the Misty Mountains to find out if they can give their aid to the tardy travelers or if they need the help of a strong sword arm.

But it’s hard to feel the threat of danger in the mountains when the lands below are peacefully going about the late summer days. Beorn's bees are buzzing, new business ideas are forming (for some in the group anyway), and maps are being read. Mostly wrong, but hey, it was a good try.

Their path will lead them to strange travelers, tolls (thankfully not trolls...yet), and the ominous story of their quarry.

We continue our schedule of new episodes every other week with Ep 8, and this marks the last episode before we start slowly adding 2nd edition rules

A disclaimer about the 2nd edition change: we can't totally convert to 2nd edition without completely changing and re-doing our character sheets. So some things will remain 1st edition or some blend of the two.

But, soon, you'll get to see some of the new rules, or tweaked rules, start to play out.

What's also interesting is we will start to see the lands made popular in The Hobbit book after that story finished. What happened between the Battle of the Five Armies and the start of The Fellowship of the Ring

One of the great aspects about the adventure path of Tales from Wilderland is the story of this area we've grown fond of from Tolkien. Now we get to see what happens next and make characters that are important to that story.

Middle Earth is such a large and alive place, which makes for some wonderful opportunity to feel a part of the legend–even if that's in a TTRPG.

So as this new adventure phase starts, it's the perfect time to hop back into the Party Business Podcast. And there's going to be some incredible storytelling ahead–we can't wait for you to see where this all goes!
